STUART TOWNSHIP, Penn. (CAP) - Stuart Township Mayor Karl Restenberg this week refused to answer questions about his being a pedophile, despite prevalent rumors in some quarters that he definitely is one.
"That's ridiculous and I won't justify it with a response," he told a CAP News reporter yesterday. However, CAP News has heard that a lot of people think otherwise.
"Oh, he's a pedophile all right - just look at him," said Stuart Township Police Chief Frank Krasinski. "But that's off the record.
"I'd be fired in two seconds if my name was attached to that," added Krasinski.
Fire Chief Harry Burns, building inspector David London and town assessor Neil Frankenheimer also said off the record that Restenberg was most likely a pedophile. "At the very least he's extremely swishy, and you didn't hear that from me," said Frankenheimer.
Some have traced the start of the rumor to Restenberg's opponent in the upcoming mayoral election, Mark Morris. But during an elaborate lunch that Morris bought for the CAP News staff this week, he denied that accusation, and pretty darn convincingly.
"I know you're perceptive enough to believe when I tell you that I would never say such a thing about my opponent, no matter how true it is," Morris told a CAP News reporter, handing him a box of Cuban cigars and tickets to a Bruce Springsteen concert. "And I'm not just saying that because you're my nephew."
Restenberg most likely would not have returned repeated calls seeking further comment.
